Dos días, tres sitios de la UNESCO, una noche en Agra

La razón para elegir la versión con noche en lugar de la excursión de un día: se lleva el Taj al amanecer, y Fatehpur Sikri recibe una mañana en lugar de los cuarenta minutos que le deja un itinerario apresurado.

Día 1: Delhi a Agra

Recogida matutina en su hotel, el aeropuerto o el lugar que prefiera en Delhi, y luego la Yamuna Expressway, una carretera moderna de seis carriles, tres o cuatro horas.

El Fuerte de Agra a la llegada con su guía. Akbar lo construyó desde 1565 en arenisca roja, dos kilómetros y medio de muralla, un foso doble, y una puerta de entrada deliberadamente en ángulo para que los elefantes no pudieran embestirla en línea recta.

Dentro, los edificios de mármol de Shah Jahan: el Diwan-i-Am, donde se escuchaban las peticiones, el Khas Mahal, la casa de baños Sheesh Mahal incrustada de fragmentos de espejo. Y el Musamman Burj, la torre octogonal donde Aurangzeb encerró a su propio padre los últimos ocho años de su vida, con el Taj visible río abajo.

Día 2: el Taj, y luego Fatehpur Sikri

El Taj Mahal cuando abren las puertas, media hora antes del amanecer.

Luego Fatehpur Sikri, 40 km al oeste. Akbar construyó esta capital en 1571 y la abandonó catorce años después, cuando falló el suministro de agua, y precisamente por eso sobrevive completa: nadie vivió allí lo suficiente para modificarla.

El Buland Darwaza es una puerta de la victoria de 54 metros, con una inscripción que cita a Jesús labrada en una mezquita mogol. El Panch Mahal retrocede a lo largo de cinco plantas abiertas, sin dos columnas iguales. El Diwan-i-Khas tiene un único pilar central labrado del que salen cuatro puentes a las esquinas, y allí se sentaba Akbar mientras representantes de distintas religiones discutían a su alrededor. Y el dargah de mármol de Salim Chishti, cuyas celosías siguen llenas de hilos atados por quienes piden hijos.
