El Yamuna forma ahora parte del problema

El Taj se construyó a orillas de un río por una razón: el agua lo reflejaba, refrescaba la terraza, y formaba el cuarto lado de la composición. El Yamuna en Agra está hoy muy contaminado y lleva poco caudal buena parte del año, por eso el reflejo que la gente fotografía suele ser el del estanque del jardín y no el del río.

Eso también importa estructuralmente. Los cimientos descansan sobre pozos de madera que debían mantenerse húmedos, y el descenso del nivel freático es algo que vigilan los conservadores. La contaminación del aire es lo otro: el mármol amarillea, y el Tribunal Supremo ha cerrado o convertido industrias alrededor de la ciudad por esa razón.

Nada de eso estropea la visita. Merece la pena saberlo porque explica las restricciones que encontrará: la zona de exclusión de vehículos, los autobuses eléctricos, la prohibición de todo lo que arde.

El día

Vehículo privado desde Nueva Delhi hasta Agra, a orillas de ese río, en unas tres horas y media.

Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan lo construyó para Mumtaz Mahal desde 1632, veintidós años, veinte mil obreros, mármol de Makrana, a 400 km.

La caligrafía labrada en letras cada vez más grandes para que se lea de manera uniforme desde el suelo; la pietra dura, hasta sesenta piedras por flor; los cuatro alminares inclinados hacia fuera para que un terremoto los dejara caer lejos de la tumba; y la única asimetría, el cenotafio de Shah Jahan, añadido fuera de eje por Aurangzeb.

Without doubt one of the favourite Best Day Tours Me and Mrs. HAD We Started the Journey at 3am and Driver Pankaj was on Time to Pick Us Up warmly welcomed us , our names were mentioned on the board and we felt welcomed and with such a friendly atmosphere we had a fantastic start! The Tour Guide Amir was extremely good, well Spoken very flexible (appreciate this!) and for that he deserves a special thanks. We had great Taj Mahal and Agra fort Tour, Amir The Tour Guide and Driver Pankaj is such a warm personality and highly motivated guide (recommendable!).
