El Taj, y las ciudades donde nació Krishna.
Mathura y Vrindavan quedan más o menos a mitad de camino entre Delhi y Agra, lo que hace que esta combinación tenga sentido geográfico, a diferencia de la mayoría de los añadidos. Además te da dos tipos de lugar completamente distintos en un mismo día: un monumento imperial mogol, y dos ciudades de peregrinación hindúes que llevan dos mil años siendo sagradas sin interrupción.
Qué ves
El Taj Mahal con un guía autorizado por el gobierno, que cubre la incrustación, la caligrafía y la historia de la construcción.
Mathura se considera el lugar de nacimiento de Krishna, y el complejo del templo Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi marca el punto. Es un lugar de peregrinación en activo y no un monumento, y se nota.
Vrindavan, diez kilómetros más allá, es donde se dice que Krishna pasó su infancia. Alberga varios miles de templos, desde el Banke Bihari del siglo XVI hasta el complejo de mármol de ISKCON, y las calles están llenas de peregrinos, viudas vestidas de blanco y un número altísimo de monos, ladrones expertos de gafas y móviles.

Conviene saber
El Taj cierra los viernes. Los templos de Mathura y Vrindavan abren a diario.
Los templos exigen ropa discreta que cubra hombros y rodillas, y los zapatos se quitan en la entrada. Muchos no permiten móviles ni cámaras dentro.
Vigila las gafas y el móvil en Vrindavan. Los monos los cogen deliberadamente y los cambian por comida. No es una broma y pasa a diario.
Los templos cierran unas horas a mediodía para el descanso de la deidad. Tu guía lo tiene en cuenta al planificar.
El Holi en Mathura y Vrindavan es extraordinario y está extremadamente concurrido. Si viajas en marzo, pregúntanos antes de reservar.
