Mathura y Vrindavan están más o menos a mitad de camino entre Delhi y Agra, lo que hace que esta combinación tenga sentido geográfico en vez de ser un añadido incómodo. Lo que consigues es un monumento imperial mogol y dos ciudades de peregrinación hindú que han sido sagradas sin interrupción durante dos mil años.
El Taj Mahal
Con guía que cubre la marquetería, la caligrafía y la construcción. Temprano, para tener la luz y la afluencia de tu lado.
Mathura
Se tiene por el lugar de nacimiento de Krishna, señalado por el complejo del templo Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi. Es un lugar de peregrinación en activo y no un monumento, y se nota: este no es un sitio que actúe para los visitantes.
Vrindavan
Diez kilómetros más allá, donde se dice que Krishna pasó su infancia. Varios miles de templos, desde el Banke Bihari del siglo XVI, donde la cortina se abre y se cierra cada pocos minutos porque se considera que la mirada de la deidad es demasiado poderosa para sostenerla de continuo, hasta el complejo de mármol de ISKCON.
