El tren rápido, y una noche para aprovecharlo bien

El Gatimaan Express cubre Delhi-Agra en cien minutos a 160 km/h, el tren más rápido de la India, con desayuno servido en el asiento. Hacerlo como excursión de un día desperdicia esa ventaja en una visita apresurada al monumento; hacerlo en dos días significa tener el Taj al amanecer y Fatehpur Sikri sin reloj corriendo.

Primer día

Tren de la mañana desde Hazrat Nizamuddin. Un guía autorizado y un coche privado con aire acondicionado le reciben en Agra Cantt.

El Fuerte de Agra por la tarde, la fortaleza de arenisca roja de Akbar, de 1565, con los palacios de mármol de su nieto dentro: el Diwan-i-Am, el Khas Mahal, el Sheesh Mahal, y el Musamman Burj, la torre donde Aurangzeb tuvo preso a su padre los últimos ocho años de su vida, con el Taj a la vista río abajo.

Opcionalmente, Mehtab Bagh al otro lado del Yamuna al atardecer, para la vista del reflejo.

Segundo día

El Taj Mahal cuando abren las puertas, media hora antes del amanecer. El mármol se vuelve gris, luego rosa, luego blanco; en invierno hay niebla sobre el río detrás de la cúpula.
