El Triángulo de Oro, luego el río

Agra y Jaipur son la mitad imperial del norte de la India. Haridwar y Rishikesh son la mitad devocional, a tres horas de distancia sobre el Ganges, donde este deja el Himalaya, y terminar allí le da al viaje un lugar de llegada.

Día 1: Delhi, luego Agra

El viejo y el nuevo Delhi en una mañana, la Jama Masjid, un paseo en rickshaw por Chandni Chowk, una parada fotográfica en India Gate, y la tumba de Humayun, la tumba-jardín de la década de 1560 de la que desciende el Taj.

Luego la autopista Yamuna hacia el sur, unas tres horas y media. Noche en Agra.

Día 2: Agra

El Taj Mahal al amanecer, gris, luego rosado, luego blanco, con una fracción de la multitud de media mañana. El fuerte de Agra, y el Musamman Burj, donde Shah Jahan murió prisionero de su propio hijo con el Taj a la vista.

Día 3: Jaipur vía Fatehpur Sikri

La capital de Akbar de 1571, abandonada tras catorce años cuando faltó el agua, y por ello completa.

Día 4: Jaipur

El fuerte de Amber, el City Palace, el Jantar Mantar y el Hawa Mahal.

Días 5-6: Haridwar y Rishikesh

Haridwar es uno de los cuatro sitios del Kumbh Mela y uno de los lugares más sagrados del hinduismo. La Ganga Aarti en Har ki Pauri cada noche es lo que hay que ver: miles de lámparas puestas sobre el agua y llevadas río abajo, con la multitud en ambas orillas cantando.

Rishikesh, 25 km río arriba, es más tranquila y verde. Los puentes colgantes Laxman Jhula y Ram Jhula, los ghats del ashram en Parmarth Niketan con su propia aarti al atardecer, y el ashram abandonado donde se alojaron los Beatles en 1968, hoy cubierto de murales.
