Delhi a las seis de la mañana es otra ciudad

Templo de Laxminarayan (Birla Mandir)

La primera parada, para el aarti matutino. Construido por la familia Birla entre 1933 y 1939 e inaugurado por Gandhi con la condición de que se admitiera a personas de todas las castas, lo que en 1939 era una declaración, no un formalismo.

Tres pisos de arenisca crema y ocre en estilo Nagara, dedicado a Vishnu y Lakshmi, con santuarios laterales para Shiva, Durga, Krishna, Hanuman y Ganesha.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib

El santuario sij con la cúpula dorada, construido donde el octavo Gurú refugió a los enfermos durante un brote de viruela y cólera en 1664. El agua del pozo del que él sacaba se convirtió en el sarovar, el estanque junto al salón, y la gente todavía se la lleva a casa.

El langar aquí alimenta a diez o veinte mil personas al día, gratis, cocinado por voluntarios. Se puede entrar a la cocina, y conviene hacerlo.

Templo del Loto

La casa de adoración bahá'í de 1986: nueve lados, veintisiete pétalos de mármol, y silencio completo en su interior. Sin sermones, sin imágenes, sin rituales, cualquiera puede sentarse y rezar o no. Cerrado los lunes.

Akshardham o ISKCON, según el día

Akshardham es de arenisca rosa y mármol blanco sin acero estructural; tenga en cuenta que no se permiten teléfonos, cámaras ni bolsos en su interior, con seguridad de nivel aeroportuario. ISKCON Delhi es lo opuesto: kirtan ruidoso y participativo, y prasadam gratuito.

I had a wonderful day with Vivek. A knowledgeable and very fun guide. Loved all the temples. Akshadham was my favourite Dharmendra is the best driver ever. Amazed how he managed the Delhi traffic with such confidence. I felt safe and well cared for by both of them.

Tour guide Pallavi greeted me at the Lotus Temple Driver Veeru drove me from my Aerocity Hotel. At the iskcon temple Pallavi explained the various aspects of the Hindu religion. We visited Shikh and Jain sites. Pallavi and Veeru streamlined the visitation of these sites.
