El mayor complejo de templo hindú de su tipo, terminado en 2005.
Akshardham no es antiguo y no pretende serlo. Se terminó en 2005 con métodos tradicionales, tallado en arenisca rosa y mármol blanco, sin acero estructural en ninguna parte del edificio. Unas 20.000 figuras están trabajadas en la piedra: deidades, bailarines, músicos, elefantes. Lo que pienses de la escala es cosa tuya; la artesanía es real y el trabajo se hizo a mano.
El espectáculo de agua y luz
El espectáculo nocturno, Sahaj Anand, se celebra en un patio con forma de pozo escalonado y cuenta una historia de los Upanishads con chorros de agua, proyección, fuego y música en directo. Dura unos 25 minutos y es la razón por la que la mayoría viene al anochecer y no a mediodía.
