Delhi por la tarde es un lugar distinto de Delhi a las dos del mediodía. La temperatura baja bruscamente, el tráfico se aligera, los monumentos están iluminados, y el césped se llena de familias. Para quien ha pasado un día con calor, esta es la versión más agradable de las mismas visitas.

Qué ves

El Rashtrapati Bhavan, la residencia del presidente, a la cabeza de Rajpath. Tiene 340 habitaciones y era la pieza central de Lutyens para la nueva capital; lo ves desde la explanada, con los edificios del Secretariado flanqueando el acceso.

La India Gate, el monumento de guerra de 42 metros con unos 13.300 nombres, iluminado al final de la avenida. Aquí es donde Delhi viene de verdad por la tarde, y el ambiente no tiene nada que ver con el turismo.

La tumba de Safdarjung, construida en 1754 y la última de las grandes tumbas-jardín de la ciudad, tranquila y casi siempre vacía.

El Qutub Minar, el minarete de 72 metros comenzado en 1192, iluminado al caer la noche.

El Qutub Minar y la tumba de Safdarjung cierran al atardecer, así que en los días cortos de invierno se ven con la última luz y no iluminados.
La India Gate es gratuita y está abierta toda la noche.
