Dos pueblos, a doce kilómetros de distancia, y dos fes completamente distintas

Ajmer y Pushkar se encuentran a ambos lados de una cresta en Rajastán, y juntarlos en un viaje es el objetivo: uno es uno de los santuarios sufíes más importantes del mundo, el otro es el principal templo de Brahma que existe.

El dargah de Ajmer Sharif

La tumba de Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, el santo sufí que trajo la orden Chishti a la India en el siglo XII. Es uno de los santuarios más visitados del sur de Asia, y atrae por igual a musulmanes, hindúes y sijs, Akbar vino aquí caminando desde Agra tras un voto, y los emperadores mogoles lo dotaron durante dos siglos.

Los patios son densos y ruidosos, con qawwali cantado cerca de la tumba, pétalos de rosa vendidos por cestas, y dos calderos enormes en los que se cocina y distribuye comida para miles de personas.

Cabeza cubierta, tanto hombres como mujeres, zapatos fuera bastante antes de la puerta, y lleve su bolso por delante. Es intenso y extraordinario.

Pushkar

Al otro lado de la cresta, y de temperamento completamente distinto. Un pequeño pueblo alrededor de un lago que los hindúes creen que se formó donde Brahma dejó caer un loto, y uno de los muy pocos templos de Brahma que existen, porque casi nunca se le adora directamente.

Cincuenta y dos ghats rodean el agua, cada uno construido por un gobernante distinto. El templo de Savitri, en la colina de arriba, ofrece todo el lago, por escalera o teleférico.

El pueblo es estrictamente vegetariano y libre de alcohol dentro de sus límites. Se aplica estrictamente.

Una advertencia que vale la pena tener en cuenta: los hombres en los ghats ofrecerán una bendición de "pasaporte de Pushkar" y luego exigirán una donación grande. Un no firme y educado es suficiente.

Ajmer está a unos 390 km de Delhi, así que este es un verdadero viaje de dos días con una noche.
