El Museo Nacional de Artesanía

El ancla de la visita, en Pragati Maidan, y uno de los museos más subestimados de la India.

Alberga arquitectura de pueblo reconstruida en el terreno, arte tribal y popular, textiles, terracota y metalistería de cada estado, y, de forma crucial, un patio en funcionamiento donde tejedores, alfareros, estampadores de bloques y bordadoras ejercen su oficio y venden directamente. Comprar a la persona que hizo algo es raro en cualquier lugar y normal aquí.

El Café Lota, dentro del terreno del museo, es donde suele comenzar la visita: un café al aire libre que prepara comida regional india como se debe, lo cual justifica la parada por sí sola.

El Lodhi Art District

El primer distrito de arte público al aire libre de la India, los muros de una colonia de vivienda gubernamental de la década de 1940 pintados de arriba abajo por artistas de un par de docenas de países. Más de cincuenta murales en unas pocas cuadras, que cambian a medida que surgen obras nuevas.

Galerías y estudios

Según el día: las galerías contemporáneas alrededor de Lado Sarai, los patios de diseñadores de Shahpur Jat tras sus puertas sin señalizar, y Kumhar Gram, si le interesa la alfarería, un pueblo de varios cientos de familias alfareras dentro de la ciudad.
