Jahanara, la hija de Shah Jahan, la trazó en la década de 1650 como un bulevar con un canal en el centro que reflejaba la luz de la luna: de ahí viene el nombre. El canal desapareció hace mucho y la calle soporta hoy una densidad de comercio que hay que ver para creerla.

Sigue organizada a la antigua, oficio por oficio: Dariba Kalan para la plata, Kinari Bazaar para adornos de boda y zari, Khari Baoli para especias, el mayor mercado de especias de Asia, donde los sacos de chile rojo seco te harán toser.
