El Triángulo de Oro, luego hacia el oeste hasta donde acaba la carretera

Jaisalmer está a 560 km más allá de Jaipur, casi en la frontera con Pakistán, y es la razón para tomar ocho días en lugar de cinco. Los itinerarios más cortos siempre lo omiten, y es el lugar que la gente recuerda más tiempo.

Día 1: Delhi

Recepción en el aeropuerto o la estación. India Gate, la residencia presidencial desde la carretera, el templo del Loto si el tiempo lo permite, y los mercados por la tarde.

Días 2-3: Agra

El Taj Mahal, mejor al amanecer, y el fuerte de Agra con el Musamman Burj, donde Shah Jahan pasó sus últimos ocho años como prisionero de Aurangzeb, mirando la tumba de su esposa a lo largo del río. Fatehpur Sikri en el trayecto hacia el oeste.

Día 4: Jaipur

El fuerte de Amber sobre el lago Maota, el City Palace, el Jantar Mantar y el Hawa Mahal.

Días 5-6: Jodhpur

Mehrangarh es el fuerte que cambia la opinión de la gente sobre los fuertes indios, 120 metros directamente desde la roca, nunca tomado, con el museo mejor gestionado de Rajastán en su interior. Las marcas de bala de cañón en la segunda puerta son de un sitio de Jaipur.

Días 7-8: Jaisalmer

Sonar Quila, el fuerte dorado de 1156, es uno de los últimos fuertes vivos del planeta, unas tres mil personas todavía viven dentro de sus murallas, en casas que sus familias conservan desde hace generaciones. La arenisca amarilla se vuelve color miel al atardecer.

Los templos jainistas en su interior están tallados hasta parecer encaje. Patwon ki Haveli son cinco mansiones de comerciantes construidas una junto a otra en la década de 1800. El lago Gadisar, un embalse del siglo XIV, es mejor al amanecer.

Luego las dunas de Sam para un paseo en camello al atardecer y una noche en un campamento desértico.
