Le train divise le trajet par deux, et c'est ce qui rend trois sites possibles.
Delhi-Agra en train express prend bien moins de deux heures contre trois par la route, et il est à l'abri de la seule variable qu'on ne peut pas anticiper : sortir de Delhi dans le trafic. Sur une journée, cette différence transforme un itinéraire à deux sites en un itinéraire à trois.

Le Taj Mahal, avec le temps de le faire correctement plutôt que comme un arrêt photo.
Le fort d'Agra, grès rouge à l'extérieur et marbre à l'intérieur, où le Musamman Burj regarde par-dessus la Yamuna le tombeau que Shah Jahan avait fait bâtir et à la vue duquel il fut plus tard enfermé.
Fatehpur Sikri, à 40 km à l'ouest. Akbar a bâti cette capitale en grès rouge à partir de 1571 et l'a abandonnée en une quinzaine d'années, très probablement parce que l'eau a manqué. Comme rien n'a été construit par-dessus, ce qui subsiste est une ville impériale complète : le Buland Darwaza de 54 mètres, les cinq étages ouverts du Panch Mahal, et le dargah de marbre de Salim Chishti, où les femmes nouent encore des fils aux moucharabiehs.
