Le Taj au lever du soleil vaut bien le réveil : la première lumière sur le marbre, peu de monde, et un air qui n'est pas encore devenu brûlant. Cette excursion ajoute les deux édifices que l'on supprime d'habitude quand la journée se réduit.

Le Taj Mahal au lever du soleil. Vous quittez Delhi de nuit pour être à la porte à l'ouverture. Le marbre paraît gris, puis rose, puis blanc à mesure que le soleil se lève derrière lui, et la première heure est le moment le plus vide du complexe.
Itimad-ud-Daulah, le Baby Taj, bâti par Nur Jahan pour son père deux décennies avant le Taj. C'est le premier édifice moghol entièrement revêtu de marbre blanc avec des incrustations de pietra dura, et c'est là que se sont mises au point les techniques que le Taj a rendues célèbres. Petit, ombragé et presque vide.
