Là où l'itinéraire change de caractère

Les quatre premiers jours sont le Triangle d'or : grès, forts, lumière du désert. Udaipur, c'est des lacs, du marbre blanc et des collines vertes, et y arriver au cinquième jour est le changement de registre le plus satisfaisant du Rajasthan.

Delhi

India Gate, Qutub Minar avec son pilier de fer sans rouille, le tombeau de Humayun, le tombeau-jardin moghol des années 1560 dont la mémoire a servi à construire le Taj, et la Jama Masjid et Chandni Chowk du vieux Delhi.

Agra

Le Taj Mahal, idéalement au lever du soleil, avec un guide agréé par le gouvernement. Shah Jahan l'a commencé en 1632 après la mort de Mumtaz Mahal en donnant naissance à leur quatorzième enfant ; vingt-deux ans et vingt mille ouvriers.

Le fort d'Agra et le Musamman Burj, où Aurangzeb l'a enfermé les huit dernières années de sa vie avec une vue sur le tombeau le long du fleuve.

Jaipur

Udaipur

La route vers le sud est longue, environ 400 km, et le paysage s'élève vers les Aravalli au fil du trajet.

Le City Palace s'étend sur près d'un kilomètre le long du lac Pichola, le plus grand complexe palatial du Rajasthan, bâti par fragments par vingt-deux souverains sur quatre cents ans.

Le temple de Jagdish de 1651, trente-deux marches au-delà d'éléphants de pierre, animé de fidèles à chaque aarti. Saheliyon ki Bari, le jardin de fontaines et d'éléphants de marbre construit pour les quarante-huit suivantes d'une reine.

Et un bateau sur le lac au coucher du soleil, avec le Lake Palace flottant au milieu et les collines s'aplatissant en arrière-plan, l'image que les gens rapportent chez eux.
