Le lieu de naissance et l'enfance de Krishna

Mathura se trouve à 180 km au sud de Delhi, et Vrindavan 11 km plus loin. Ensemble, elles comptent parmi les villes de pèlerinage les plus visitées d'Inde, et elles offrent une expérience complètement différente des monuments de Delhi, ce sont des villes religieuses actives, pas des sites.

Mathura

Les hindous considèrent que Krishna est né ici, dans une cellule de prison où ses parents étaient retenus par le roi Kansa. La cellule se trouve sous le complexe du temple Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi.

La sécurité y est la plus stricte que vous rencontrerez en Inde : pas de téléphones, pas d'appareils photo, pas de sacs, parfois pas de ceintures. Laissez tout dans la voiture, il n'y a pas de vestiaire fiable et discuter à la porte n'aboutit à rien.

Le temple Dwarkadhish, construit en 1814, est le principal temple actif de Mathura, avec des plafonds peints et des divinités à bascule en période de festival.

Le Vishram Ghat sur la Yamuna est l'endroit où Krishna se serait reposé après avoir tué Kansa. Des tortues dans l'eau, et une aarti au crépuscule.

Vrindavan

Où Krishna aurait grandi, une ville de plusieurs milliers de temples.

Banke Bihari est celui qui compte le plus pour les fidèles, des années 1860, bondé, et avec un rideau tiré devant la divinité toutes les quelques minutes selon la tradition, afin que personne ne retienne son regard trop longtemps.

Prem Mandir, achevé en 2012 en marbre italien et illuminé de couleurs changeantes après la tombée de la nuit. Le temple Krishna Balaram d'ISKCON, où aboutissent la plupart des visiteurs étrangers et où le kirtan dure toute la journée.

Pratique

Les deux villes sont strictement végétariennes et sans alcool. Les chaussures se retirent à chaque temple, et la pierre devient chaude à partir d'avril, portez des chaussettes.

Les singes de Vrindavan prennent lunettes et téléphones, réellement et souvent. Tenez-les bien.

Des veuves viennent à Vrindavan vivre le reste de leur vie depuis des siècles, et vous les verrez. C'est un lieu réel, pas un décor.
