Un planétarium, et un bon

Le planétarium Nehru se trouve dans les jardins de Teen Murti Bhavan, qui fut la résidence officielle de Jawaharlal Nehru et qui est désormais un musée à sa mémoire. Le planétarium a ouvert en 1984 et montre le ciel aux écoliers de Delhi depuis lors.

C'est une chose inhabituelle à réserver lors d'un voyage en Inde, et cela convient à deux types de voyageurs : les familles avec enfants lassés des forts, et quiconque s'intéresse à la façon dont l'Inde est entrée dans l'espace.

Le spectacle sous coupole

L'événement principal : un voyage projeté à travers le système solaire puis dans la galaxie, narré, sous une coupole avec sièges inclinables. Les séances ont lieu à heures fixes en anglais et en hindi, et durent environ quarante minutes.

C'est un véritable planétarium optique plutôt qu'un écran vidéo, ce qui signifie que le champ d'étoiles est projeté plutôt que rendu numériquement, et sur une coupole cela se lit très différemment.

Les expositions

Les galeries couvrent les bases de l'astronomie puis la partie que la plupart des visiteurs n'attendent pas : le programme spatial indien.

Rakesh Sharma a volé grâce au programme de ce pays en 1984 et a parlé à Indira Gandhi depuis l'orbite, elle lui a demandé à quoi l'Inde ressemblait de là-haut, et il a répondu saare jahan se achha, le premier vers d'un célèbre poème ourdou. Cet échange explique en partie l'importance locale de ce bâtiment.

Il y a des modèles de lanceurs indiens, du matériel satellite, et des présentations sur Chandrayaan et Mangalyaan, la mission martienne qui a atteint l'orbite avec un budget inférieur à celui de la plupart des films hollywoodiens.

Teen Murti Bhavan

Les jardins valent les vingt minutes supplémentaires. Le bureau et la chambre de Nehru sont conservés tels qu'ils étaient, ce qui en dit beaucoup sur l'homme.
