Le fort lui-même

Shah Jahan l'a commencé en 1639 comme fort-palais de sa nouvelle capitale, Shahjahanabad. Deux kilomètres de muraille de grès rouge, et le siège du pouvoir moghol jusqu'en 1857. À l'intérieur : la porte de Lahore et le bazar couvert du Chatta Chowk, le Diwan-i-Am où l'empereur écoutait les requêtes publiques, le Diwan-i-Khas qui abritait le trône du Paon, et les pavillons de marbre côté fleuve.

Le fort Rouge est fermé le lundi. La Jama Masjid ferme aux visiteurs pendant les heures de prière.
