Le Triangle d'or, c'est des forts et des tombeaux de quatre cents ans. Amritsar est une foi vivante et une blessure moderne, et ce changement de registre justifie sept jours.

Jours 1-2 : Delhi

Arrivée et transfert. Puis la capitale : le fort Rouge, la ville fortifiée de Shah Jahan de 1638, fermé le lundi, la Jama Masjid, et le Raj Ghat, où Gandhi fut incinéré et où la flamme ne s'est pas éteinte depuis 1948.

India Gate, Qutub Minar avec le pilier de fer debout depuis 1 600 ans sans avoir rouillé, le tombeau de Humayun, et le trajet devant le Parlement et le palais présidentiel.

Jours 3-4 : Agra, puis Jaipur

Le Taj Mahal et le fort d'Agra, avec le Musamman Burj où Aurangzeb a emprisonné son père huit ans, le Taj visible le long du fleuve. Fatehpur Sikri sur le trajet vers l'ouest.

Jour 5 : Jaipur

Le fort d'Amber, le City Palace, le Jantar Mantar et le Hawa Mahal, avec les bazars en soirée.

Jours 6-7 : Amritsar

Le Temple d'or, Harmandir Sahib, se trouve sur une digue au milieu d'un bassin d'eau, ouvert sur ses quatre côtés pour signifier que chacun peut y entrer de n'importe quelle direction. Il fonctionne jour et nuit. Sa cuisine nourrit gratuitement entre cinquante mille et cent mille personnes chaque jour, cuisinée et servie entièrement par des bénévoles, et vous pouvez les rejoindre.

L'heure idéale pour y être est avant l'aube, quand le Guru Granth Sahib est apporté.

Jallianwala Bagh se trouve à côté : le jardin fortifié où les troupes britanniques ont tiré sur une foule piégée et désarmée en 1919. Les traces de balles sont toujours dans le mur. Vingt minutes, et l'endroit le plus poignant du Pendjab.

La frontière de Wagah, à 28 km, accueille une cérémonie de descente du drapeau chaque soir, les gardes indiens et pakistanais se lançant des coups de pied élevés devant des tribunes pleines des deux côtés. C'est absurde et totalement captivant.

Au Temple d'or : tête couverte, chaussures retirées, pieds lavés à l'entrée. Des écharpes sont fournies gratuitement à la porte.
