Deux villes, à douze kilomètres l'une de l'autre, et deux foies entièrement différentes

Ajmer et Pushkar se trouvent de part et d'autre d'une crête au Rajasthan, et les inclure dans un même voyage est tout l'intérêt : l'une est parmi les sanctuaires soufis les plus importants du monde, l'autre est le principal temple de Brahma existant.

Le dargah d'Ajmer Sharif

Le tombeau de Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, le saint soufi qui a apporté l'ordre Chishti en Inde au XIIe siècle. C'est l'un des sanctuaires les plus visités d'Asie du Sud, attirant musulmans, hindous et sikhs à la fois, Akbar est venu ici à pied depuis Agra après un vœu, et les empereurs moghols l'ont doté pendant deux siècles.

Les cours sont denses et bruyantes, avec du qawwali chanté près du tombeau, des pétales de rose vendus au panier, et deux chaudrons énormes dans lesquels la nourriture pour des milliers de personnes est cuisinée et distribuée.

Têtes couvertes, hommes et femmes, chaussures retirées bien avant la porte, et gardez votre sac devant vous. C'est intense et extraordinaire.

Pushkar

De l'autre côté de la crête, et d'un tempérament complètement différent. Une petite ville autour d'un lac que les hindous considèrent formé là où Brahma a laissé tomber un lotus, et l'un des très rares temples de Brahma existant, car il n'est presque jamais adoré directement.

Cinquante-deux ghats entourent l'eau, chacun construit par un souverain différent. Le temple de Savitri sur la colline au-dessus offre une vue sur tout le lac, par escalier ou téléphérique.

La ville est strictement végétarienne et sans alcool dans ses limites. Appliqué.

Un avertissement qui vaut la peine : des hommes sur les ghats proposeront une bénédiction « passeport de Pushkar » puis exigeront une grosse donation. Un non ferme et poli suffit.

Pratique

Ajmer se trouve à environ 390 km de Delhi, donc c'est un véritable voyage de deux jours avec une nuit.
