Le Triangle d'or, puis vers l'ouest jusqu'à la fin de la route

Jaisalmer se trouve à 560 km au-delà de Jaipur, presque à la frontière pakistanaise, et c'est la raison de prendre huit jours plutôt que cinq. Les itinéraires plus courts l'omettent toujours, et c'est l'endroit dont les gens se souviennent le plus longtemps.

Jour 1 : Delhi

Accueil à l'aéroport ou à la gare. India Gate, la résidence du président depuis la route, le temple du Lotus si le temps le permet, et les marchés en soirée.

Jours 2-3 : Agra

Le Taj Mahal, meilleur au lever du soleil, et le fort d'Agra avec le Musamman Burj où Shah Jahan a passé ses huit dernières années comme prisonnier d'Aurangzeb, regardant le tombeau de son épouse le long du fleuve. Fatehpur Sikri sur le trajet vers l'ouest.

Jour 4 : Jaipur

Le fort d'Amber au-dessus du lac Maota, le City Palace, le Jantar Mantar et le Hawa Mahal.

Jours 5-6 : Jodhpur

Mehrangarh est le fort qui change l'opinion des gens sur les forts indiens, 120 mètres directement depuis la roche, jamais pris, avec le musée le mieux géré du Rajasthan à l'intérieur. Les impacts de boulets de canon sur la deuxième porte proviennent d'un siège de Jaipur.

En dessous, Jaswant Thada en marbre assez fin pour laisser passer la lumière du soleil, et les ruelles bleues autour de la tour de l'horloge. Le bleu était un lavage à la chaux et au cuivre qui repoussait les termites.

Jours 7-8 : Jaisalmer

Sonar Quila, le fort doré de 1156, est l'un des derniers forts vivants sur Terre, environ trois mille personnes vivent encore à l'intérieur de ses murs, dans des maisons que leurs familles détiennent depuis des générations. Le grès jaune devient couleur miel au coucher du soleil.

Les temples jaïns à l'intérieur sont sculptés jusqu'à ressembler à de la dentelle. Patwon ki Haveli regroupe cinq demeures de marchands construites côte à côte dans les années 1800. Le lac Gadisar, un réservoir du XIVe siècle, est meilleur à l'aube.

Puis les dunes de Sam pour une balade à dos de chameau au coucher du soleil et une nuit dans un camp désertique.
