Three Mughal sites in one day, including the one most trips skip.
Most same-day trips from Delhi see the Taj and turn around. This one keeps going. After the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort you drive 40 km west to Fatehpur Sikri, the red sandstone capital Akbar built and then abandoned inside fifteen years. It is the quietest of the three and, for a lot of people, the one they remember.
The day
Pickup is from Delhi, Gurugram or Noida in a private air-conditioned car. The Yamuna Expressway takes about three hours, so an early start gets you to the Taj before the tour buses. You spend roughly three hours at the Taj Mahal, two at Agra Fort, and two at Fatehpur Sikri, with an hour at a marble inlay workshop in between where you can watch the pietra dura technique being done by hand. Nobody expects you to buy anything. Then the drive back, dropping at your hotel.
Your guide is government-approved and stays with you at all three sites.
Included and optional
The car, driver, guide, bottled water and all tolls and parking are in the base price. Monument tickets and the five-star lunch are separate options at checkout, so the price you see reflects what you actually take.
Worth knowing
The Taj is closed on Fridays. Any other day works.
Ticket costs for foreign nationals: Taj ₹1,100 plus ₹200 for the mausoleum, Agra Fort ₹650, Fatehpur Sikri ₹610. Select the tickets option and your guide has them in hand at each gate.
This is a twelve-hour day door to door. Comfortable shoes matter more than anything else you bring.
Fatehpur Sikri involves a short shuttle from the car park up to the site.
