Picked up anywhere in the NCR

Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad or Noida — hotel, railway station or airport. That matters, because most Agra day tours assume a central Delhi hotel and a great many visitors are staying elsewhere in the capital region for work.

Then the Yamuna Expressway, about three and a half hours.

Taj Mahal

Shah Jahan began it in 1632, the year after Mumtaz Mahal died bearing their fourteenth child. Twenty-two years, twenty thousand workers, and marble hauled 400 km from Makrana in Rajasthan.

Your guide covers what you would otherwise walk past: the calligraphy cut in progressively larger letters so it reads the same height from the ground; the pietra dura inlay, with as many as sixty pieces of stone in a single flower; the four minarets, tilted fractionally outward so that an earthquake would drop them away from the tomb; and the illusion at the Darwaza-i-Rauza gateway, where the Taj seems to shrink as you walk toward it.

And the single asymmetry in the whole composition: Shah Jahan's own cenotaph, placed off the central axis beside his wife's by Aurangzeb after his death.

Agra Fort

Two kilometres upriver. A walled city rather than a fort — two and a half kilometres of red sandstone begun by Akbar in 1565, with Shah Jahan's marble palaces inside: the Diwan-i-Am where petitions were heard, the Khas Mahal, the Sheesh Mahal bath house set with thousands of mirror fragments.

And the Musamman Burj, the octagonal marble tower on the river wall where Aurangzeb imprisoned his father for the last eight years of his life, with the Taj visible along the water. Shah Jahan died there and was carried across the river to be buried beside Mumtaz.

The driver was always on the phone on the way to Agra and we didn’t feel comfortable about that. The Guide was okay. The heat was unbearable and I would not recommend anyone to do the Agra day trip during April.

Firoz was a great guide! We got picked up from Delhi very early in time for the Taj Mahal sunrise. Vishnu was a great driver too and let us sleep the whole way! Firoz was very knowledgable about all the different sites. We visited the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort (a must see) and the mini Taj Mahal. We then were taken to see how the tiles in the Taj Mahal were handmade with an option to buy something if we want. I recommend the trip, BRING CASH for the monument entrance tickets. If you want to buy the suggested items afterwards they take card or cash but there is no pressure to purchase.

Our tour to Agra was super memorable. We had a comfortable smooth drive to Agra from Delhi to arrive to Taj Mahal at the sun rise. Our guide rahul told us lots of different facts and stories and legends surrounding the place. We had a nice walk in the garden, went inside Taj Mahal, visited local craftsmen, explored Baby Mahal and had some refreshments. Rahul also took some lovely photos of our family to keep memories. Rahul is amazing as a tour guide, I would 100% recommend booking the tour with him!

Absolutely amazing experience with. Our driver was super friendly and really knew the area well, taking us to some awesome spots we wouldn't have found on our own. The itinerary hit all the must-see places but still had built-in flexibility, which made it so easy to enjoy everything without feeling rushed. The tour guide jugnu was AMAZING!! He was able to navigate the attractions with minimal wait times in line and had a wealth of knowledge. He was critical to the overall wonderful experience that we had. Highly recommend requesting him

The visit to Taj Mahal was magnificent. The tour guide Mr Imran Khan was awesome. He gave a narration which transformed me back into time when Taj Mahal was first built. A story and history which were so moving, delivered to me in real time by Mr Imran. Highly recommended
