How the day runs
Pickup from your hotel or the airport in Delhi, then the Yamuna Expressway down to Agra, about three hours. An early start is worth taking: the Taj at seven is a different building from the Taj at eleven, in light, temperature and crowd.
The Taj Mahal with your guide, covering the gate approach, the gardens, the marble platform and the mausoleum interior, with the inlay work and the calligraphy explained rather than pointed at. Agra Fort afterwards, where the Musamman Burj looks across the Yamuna at the Taj and gives Shah Jahan's story its ending.
