The fastest train in India, and the best way to do this day.
The Gatimaan Express runs Hazrat Nizamuddin to Agra Cantt at up to 160 km/h, covering the distance in about 100 minutes. By road the same journey is three hours on a good day and considerably more when Delhi is being Delhi. The train also removes the one thing you cannot plan around, which is traffic.
Breakfast is served on the morning service and included in the fare.
How the day runs
Pickup in Delhi for the morning departure. At Agra Cantt a private air-conditioned car and your guide meet the train, and the car stays with you all day. The Taj Mahal with a proper guided visit, Agra Fort, and whatever else the day allows. Late afternoon back to the station for the return, arriving in Delhi in the evening.
About thirteen hours door to door, of which only about three and a half are travelling.

Worth knowing
The Taj is closed on Fridays, and the Gatimaan does not run on Fridays either, which lines the two up neatly.
Train seats are booked against your specific date and are the least flexible part of the day. Confirm your date before booking anything else around it.
If Gatimaan seats are unavailable, the Vande Bharat and Shatabdi services cover the same route at similar speed and we will say so rather than substituting silently.
