The Gatimaan Express is India's fastest train and it turns the Agra day trip from a six-hour round drive into something closer to three and a half hours of travel, spent in an air-conditioned chair car with a meal served rather than watching the expressway.
It also removes the variable that ruins most Delhi day trips, which is traffic. The train leaves when it leaves.
How the day runs
Pickup from anywhere in Delhi NCR, which matters if you are out in Gurugram or Noida. You are taken to Hazrat Nizamuddin for the morning departure. At Agra Cantt a private car and your guide are waiting. From there the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and whatever else your chosen option covers, with the car staying with you all day. Late afternoon you are back at the station for the return service, and a car meets you in Delhi.
