Wearing a saree at the Taj is not a costume so much as a decision about what your photographs look like afterwards. The outfit is provided and you are helped into it, which with a saree is not optional, and the result is a set of images that read as deliberate.
How it runs
The departure is yours to pick. From Agra this is a half day. From Delhi it is about ten hours, with a private air-conditioned car down the Yamuna Expressway and back. Either way you have a government-approved local guide for the visit.
At the Taj your guide takes you through the Great Gate approach, the gardens, the mausoleum interior with the cenotaphs and the carved screens, and the riverside terrace. The inlay work and the calligraphy get explained properly rather than pointed at.
Options
Three versions at checkout: guide only if you have your own transport, private car from Agra, or the full run from Delhi. The saree experience is included across them.
