From Jaipur : Taj Mahal & Agra fort Tour and Drop Delhi

A day trip that moves you between cities

This is the useful shape for anyone doing the Golden Triangle in one direction. Instead of paying for Jaipur–Agra, a tour, and then Agra–Delhi separately, the whole thing runs as one day: picked up in Jaipur, the monuments in Agra, and dropped in Delhi that evening.

The drive

Jaipur to Agra is about 240 km and four hours through Bharatpur, with a comfort stop. Fatehpur Sikri sits on this route and can be added if your timings allow.

Taj Mahal

Your guide meets you in Agra.

Shah Jahan began it in 1632, the year after Mumtaz Mahal died bearing their fourteenth child. Twenty-two years, twenty thousand workers, and marble hauled 400 km from Makrana.

One thing worth knowing before you arrive: the building is not open on Fridays, and the last stretch to the gate is by electric vehicle or on foot because private cars stop outside the pollution exclusion zone. That applies to every visitor.

Inside, your guide covers the calligraphy cut in increasing sizes so it reads evenly from the ground; the pietra dura inlay of dozens of stones per flower; the four minarets, tilted outward so an earthquake would drop them clear of the tomb; and the single asymmetry in the whole composition, Shah Jahan's own cenotaph, placed off-axis by Aurangzeb.

Agra Fort

Akbar's red sandstone city of 1565 with Shah Jahan's marble palaces inside, and the Musamman Burj where Aurangzeb held his father prisoner for eight years with the Taj in view along the water.

Then Delhi

Agra to Delhi is another 230 km on the Yamuna Expressway, roughly three and a half hours. You arrive in the evening.
