Taj Mahal

Shah Jahan began it in 1632 after Mumtaz Mahal died bearing their fourteenth child. Twenty-two years, twenty thousand workers, marble hauled 300 km from Makrana.

The minarets lean outward so an earthquake would take them clear of the tomb. And Shah Jahan's own cenotaph is the single thing in the building that is off-centre.
Agra Fort
Akbar's red sandstone city of 1565 with his grandson's marble palaces inside, and the Musamman Burj where that grandson died a prisoner of his own son, looking at the Taj along the river.
