This same day Delhi to Agra tour was perfectly organised. Picked up from our hotel near Karol Bagh at 6am and were at the Taj Mahal by 10am. The guide in Agra was excellent and gave us nearly 2 hours at the Taj. We also visited Agra Fort and had a nice lunch. The drive back took about 3.5 hours on the expressway. Everything was included and there were no surprise stops at shopping places. Clean car, safe driver, great guide. Exactly what we wanted for our one day in Agra.

Good same day trip from Delhi to Agra covering the main sights. The car was comfortable and the driver experienced on the highway. The Taj Mahal was incredible and our guide did a thorough job explaining the history and architecture. We also visited Agra Fort. The only downside was the long drive, about 3-4 hours each way, which makes for a tiring day. But if you only have one day to spare its definately doable and worth it. The Taj Mahal is a must-see.

We only had one free day in Delhi and this same day Agra tour was the perfect solution. The pickup from our hotel was punctual, the car was clean with AC, and the driver drove safely on the expressway. Our guide in Agra was passionate about the Taj Mahal and knew every detail of the Mughal architecture. We had enough time for the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and a quick visit to Baby Taj. Got back to our Delhi hotel by 8:30pm. Reccomend this for anyone with limited time.

Excellent same day tour from Delhi to Agra. The whole experience was well planned with no wasted time. Our driver knew the best routes and we arrived in Agra by mid-morning. The Taj Mahal was everything we expected and more, our guide brought the history alive. Agra Fort was impressive too. The return journey was smooth with a stop for tea halfway. Good value considering it includes car, driver, guide, and entrance fees. Completley hassle free way to see the Taj.

Decent same day tour from Delhi. The Taj Mahal was breathtaking and the guide was good. The car was comfortable for the long drive. I appreciated that the itinerary was focused on the major sights without unnecessary detours. Giving 4 stars because the day was very long, about 14 hours from pickup to drop-off, and I was exhausted by the end. If you have the option I would suggest the overnight tour instead. But if one day is all you have this tour works well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — the Delhi to Agra same-day trip is one of India's most classic and rewarding day trips. The Taj Mahal is approximately 200 km from Delhi (3–3.5 hours by car on the Yamuna Expressway), and a well-planned day allows you to visit both the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort comfortably before returning to Delhi by evening. The key to success is an early departure (5:30–6 AM from Delhi) to arrive before crowds build and before the midday heat intensifies. Most travellers returning from a same-day Agra trip describe it as one of the highlights of their India journey.
The drive from Delhi to Agra takes 3 to 3.5 hours via the Yamuna Expressway — a modern, 6-lane divided highway covering 165 km with virtually no traffic signals or intersections. The NH19 (old highway) takes 4–5 hours due to truck traffic and towns; the expressway is significantly faster and smoother. An early morning departure avoids Delhi city traffic entirely. The return journey to Delhi in the afternoon takes approximately the same time but can vary with expressway traffic volumes. Total round trip driving time: approximately 6–7 hours, leaving 5–6 hours in Agra for sightseeing.
5:30–6:00 AM — Pickup from Delhi hotel. 9:00–11:30 AM — Taj Mahal visit with licensed guide (full 2.5-hour guided tour). 11:30 AM–1:00 PMAgra Fort visit. 1:00–2:00 PM — Sit-down lunch at a quality restaurant in Agra. 2:30–3:00 PM — Departure from Agra. 6:00–7:00 PM — Arrival back in Delhi. Optional: Mehtab Bagh (baby Taj rear-view garden, 45 min) can be added between Agra Fort and lunch. Optional: Itmad-ud-Daula (Baby Taj) can replace Mehtab Bagh for repeat visitors who prefer a different monument experience.
Included: air-conditioned private vehicle for the full day (Delhi–Agra–Delhi), Ministry of Tourism-licensed guide in Agra, all entry tickets (Taj Mahal + Agra Fort for foreign nationals), and sit-down lunch at a quality restaurant. Not included: personal expenses, tips for the guide and driver, camera fees inside monuments (tripod/video camera require separate permits), or any optional site additions. The all-inclusive pricing removes the complexity of managing local payments, tickets, and logistics — everything is handled by your guide and driver.
October to March is the ideal season for the Delhi–Agra day trip. Temperatures are pleasant (15–28°C), skies are clear, and the white marble of the Taj Mahal appears at its most luminous. November and February are arguably the best months — post-monsoon clarity combined with comfortable temperatures. Avoid April–June if possible: Agra temperatures regularly reach 42–46°C and outdoor sightseeing is genuinely uncomfortable. July–September (monsoon) brings humidity but also a dramatic atmosphere with dark clouds behind the white Taj — some photographers specifically seek this. The Taj Mahal is open year-round (closed Fridays).
Yes — entry tickets for the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort are included in this tour for all participants. Foreign national ticket pricing is ₹1,300 for the Taj Mahal main complex plus ₹200 for the inner mausoleum entry (the chamber containing the cenotaphs). Agra Fort is ₹650. By including all tickets in your tour price, you avoid queueing at ticket windows and the complexity of the online booking system. Your guide purchases or pre-books tickets and escorts you directly through the priority entry process.
Yes — Itmad-ud-Daula, often called the 'Baby Taj,' can be added to the same-day Delhi–Agra itinerary. Built in 1628, Itmad-ud-Daula is the tomb of Mirza Ghiyas Beg and is architecturally significant as one of the first Mughal structures built entirely in white marble with Pietra Dura inlay — predating the Taj Mahal and serving as its inspiration. It is quieter and less crowded than the Taj Mahal, making it a great add-on for those interested in Mughal architecture. Adding it requires approximately 45–60 minutes and is best visited after Agra Fort, before lunch.
Yes — the Gatimaan Express (India's fastest train, 160 km/h) covers Delhi to Agra in just 1 hour 40 minutes, departing from Hazrat Nizamuddin station and arriving at Agra Cantonment. For travellers who prefer trains or want to experience Indian rail, the Gatimaan option is excellent. Our Delhi-Agra Gatimaan train tour includes train tickets, guide, all entry fees, and AC vehicle in Agra between sites. The train departs approximately 8 AM and returns around 9 PM. The car option offers more flexibility; the train is faster and more scenic.
A modern, air-conditioned private vehicle is used — typically a Toyota Innova (6–7 seats) for groups of up to 6, or a sedan for couples/solo travellers. The vehicle is exclusively yours for the entire day, giving complete flexibility over timing and stops. Vehicles are GPS-tracked, insured, and driven by experienced drivers who regularly make the Delhi–Agra route. USB charging ports and Wi-Fi are available in most vehicles. For groups larger than 7, a tempo traveller or minibus is arranged.
Yes — the tour can operate in either direction. If you are starting your trip in Agra (arriving from another city) and ending in Delhi, the vehicle can collect you from your Agra hotel, cover the sightseeing in Agra, and then drive you to Delhi for hotel drop-off. This is a popular itinerary for travellers arriving in Agra from Jaipur (completing the Golden Triangle circuit). The same sites, guide, and inclusions apply regardless of direction. Simply specify your pickup and drop-off locations when booking.
Yes, the Taj Mahal is closed every Friday for religious reasons. Please ensure your tour date for the Taj Mahal does not fall on a Friday.
Yes, foreign tourists must show their original passport or a high-quality digital photo at the entrance gates for security identification and monument entry.
Sunrise is the best time to visit the Taj Mahal. The gates open at 6:00 AM and the soft morning light creates the most stunning views. Arrive by 5:30 AM to beat the crowds and get the best photography conditions.
Yes, Delhi is generally safe for tourists, especially in popular tourist areas like Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, and around major monuments. Booking a licensed local guide through AsiaByLocals adds an extra layer of safety and local knowledge.
The Delhi Metro is the fastest and most affordable way to travel between attractions. For tour experiences, our guides arrange private air-conditioned vehicles so you can cover Old Delhi and New Delhi comfortably in one day.
For popular sites like Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, and Red Fort, advance tickets are recommended to skip long queues. When you book a guided tour through AsiaByLocals, entry tickets and skip-the-line access are typically included.
