It's Real, But Only 5 Nights a Month
Taj Mahal night viewing is genuinely limited: it runs on the full moon night plus the two nights before and two nights after (five nights total per lunar month), with sessions roughly 20:00-23:59 in small batches. It is closed every Friday and throughout Ramzan, so always check the specific month's viewing nights before planning around it — don't assume a date without confirming.
Only the exterior silhouette of the main mausoleum is visible from a distance at night; there is no interior access and no close-up viewing of the inlay work you'd see by day. Visitors typically need to report roughly 30 minutes early for a security and ID check at a designated point before entry. Because availability is tightly capped, book through a guide or operator who can confirm the actual dates for your travel month rather than guessing from an old list.
