Six days, one booking, nothing to arrange

Hotels, transport, guides and transfers in a single package, with arrival and departure days built in. It suits a first trip to India, where working out the logistics yourself is most of the stress.

Day 1: arrival

Met at Delhi airport and transferred to your hotel. If the flight lands early there is time for India Gate and Connaught Place; otherwise the day is for recovering.

Day 2: Delhi

Red Fort, Shah Jahan's walled capital of 1638, with the covered Chatta Chowk bazaar and the Diwan-i-Khas that held the Peacock Throne until 1739. Closed Mondays.

Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk, which is best seen from a cycle rickshaw — the street was laid out in the 1650s with a canal down its centre that reflected the moon.

Raj Ghat, where Gandhi was cremated in 1948 and the flame has burned since. Then Humayun's Tomb — the 1560s garden tomb that the Taj descends from — Qutub Minar, and the Lotus Temple.

Days 3–4: Agra

The Taj Mahal, best at sunrise, and Agra Fort with the Musamman Burj where Shah Jahan spent his last eight years imprisoned by his son, looking at his wife's tomb along the river.

Fatehpur Sikri on the drive to Jaipur: Akbar's capital of 1571, abandoned after fourteen years when the water failed.

Days 5–6: Jaipur

Amber Fort above Maota Lake, the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and the Hawa Mahal, with an evening in the bazaars and the return to Delhi on the last day.
