6-Days Golden Triangle Tour – Explore Delhi, Agra & Jaipur

Six days for three cities, which is the right ratio

Two days in each, roughly, with the drives falling between them. It is the length at which the Golden Triangle stops being a checklist: you get a second Taj visit at a different hour, an evening in the Jaipur bazaars, and a full day of Old Delhi rather than a drive-past.

Delhi

Red Fort, Shah Jahan's walled capital of 1638: the covered Chatta Chowk bazaar that once sold silk to the court, the Diwan-i-Am where he heard public petitions, and the Diwan-i-Khas that held the Peacock Throne until Nadir Shah carried it to Persia in 1739. Closed Mondays.

Jama Masjid and a cycle rickshaw through Chandni Chowk, where the trades still sit where the 1650s plan put them — silver in Dariba Kalan, spices in Khari Baoli.

Agra

The Taj Mahal, ideally at sunrise. Agra Fort, with the Musamman Burj where Aurangzeb imprisoned his father for the last eight years of his life, the Taj visible along the river. And with two days here, the Baby Taj across the Yamuna and Mehtab Bagh for the sunset reflection.

Jaipur

Amber Fort above Maota Lake with the Sheesh Mahal, the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and the Hawa Mahal — plus Nahargarh at sunset, which is the best view of the city there is, and the markets where Jaipur actually works.

Private car, driver and guides; or with three-star or four-star hotels.

Practical

The Taj is closed on Fridays and the Red Fort on Mondays; the itinerary is ordered around both.

Entrance fees are separate unless stated — about ₹2,600 a head for a foreign adult across the three cities.
