Six days, which is what the circuit actually wants.

The three-day Golden Triangle is a sprint and everyone who does it says so afterwards. Six days covers the same route with time to stop: sunrise at the Taj rather than mid-morning, an afternoon in Jaipur's bazaars instead of a dash between forts, and a full day for Delhi rather than a drive-past.

Delhi

Qutub Minar, begun in 1192, with the iron pillar that has stood in the open for sixteen centuries without rusting. Humayun's Tomb, the garden tomb a Persian architect built for an emperor's widow and the direct model for the Taj. Old Delhi for the Red Fort, Jama Masjid and the lanes of Chandni Chowk. India Gate and the colonial avenues.

Agra

The Taj Mahal, with six days there is no reason not to take the sunrise slot. Agra Fort. Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's sandstone capital abandoned within fifteen years, on the road west. And Itimad-ud-Daulah, the Baby Taj, which is the first thing to be cut from a short itinerary and the building where the Taj's craftsmanship was worked out.

Jaipur

Amer Fort and its Sheesh Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, plus Nahargarh at sunset and time in Johari and Bapu bazaars.
