Mehrauli Archaeological Park, 200 acres beside Qutub Minar holding a hundred monuments across a thousand years — Balban's tomb, Jamali Kamali, Rajon ki Baoli — and usually nobody in it.

Hauz Khas, the fourteenth-century reservoir, madrasa and tomb complex, with a deer park and a lake.

Tughlaqabad Fort, the enormous ruined fort built in the 1320s and abandoned within five years, reportedly under a saint's curse.

Lodhi Gardens, where fifteenth-century tombs sit among joggers and picnics — Delhi using its ruins rather than fencing them off.
