Delhi goes out later than you think

Nothing gets busy before ten. This crawl is built around that — three venues in one of the city's dense nightlife pockets, moving as the night builds rather than starting at a peak that has not arrived.

How it runs

A local host meets the group at the first bar. There is a welcome shot, and then icebreakers, which sound unbearable and are in fact the reason the group stops being strangers within fifteen minutes.

Second venue, louder, another round included, and by this point people have usually sorted themselves into the ones who want to talk and the ones who want to dance.

Third venue is the loud one. Final shot, full dance floor, and the host stays until the end rather than handing you a wristband and disappearing.

Who this is for

Solo travellers mostly, and couples who want a night out without spending it working out which door has a queue and which has a guest list. Delhi nightlife can be unfriendly to walk-ins — several places run couples-only or members-only policies at the door — and going in with a local host removes that entirely.

What is included

Entry to all three venues, one complimentary shot at each, the games, and the host for the full three hours. Any drinks beyond the included shots are yours.

Practical

Bring photo ID. The legal drinking age in Delhi is 25 and it is enforced at the better venues, so carry a passport rather than a photograph of one.

Dress code exists — no shorts, no flip-flops, closed shoes for men. Nobody needs a jacket.

Get a cab back rather than walking. Delhi at two in the morning is safe enough but it is not a walking city at any hour.
