We took the full-day option with entry fees included and it made everything effortless. Rajan, our guide, walked us straight past the ticket lines at Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar. The air-conditioned car was a lifesaver between stops, and being picked up from our hotel at 7am meant we beat the worst of the crowds at Jama Masjid. Genuinely one of the best-organised days of our India trip.

A private guide really is worth it in Delhi. Ours tailored the route when we said we cared more about history than shopping, so we spent longer at Humayun's Tomb and skipped the market rush. The cycle-rickshaw through Chandni Chowk was the highlight for my teenage sons. Clear English, no pressure, and he handled all the touts near the monuments so we never felt hassled.

Booked this on a long layover and got airport pickup, which worked perfectly. In about seven hours we covered both Old and New Delhi without ever feeling rushed. Bangla Sahib was unexpectedly moving and our guide explained the etiquette so we felt comfortable. The bottled water and umbrella they provided came in handy in the September heat. Dropped back at the airport with time to spare.

Really good tour and a knowledgeable guide, but be honest with yourself about the heat. Even in mid-October the walk through Chandni Chowk's lanes was sweaty and the crowds are intense. The India Gate and Lotus Temple stops were calmer. It's a lot of walking on uneven ground, so wear proper shoes. Loved it overall, just start early like they suggest.

Novembre est la saison parfaite pour cette visite. The weather was cool and pleasant for wandering. Our guide adapted the timings for our two young children, letting them run around the India Gate lawns while we rested in the car. He knew exactly which vegetarian spots to recommend near the market. A warm, patient guide and a spotless vehicle. We would book again without hesitation.

Chose the transport-plus-guide option and paid entries myself, which saved a bit and was no hassle at all. The contrast between chaotic Old Delhi and the wide avenues of New Delhi in a single day was fascinating. Qutub Minar at golden hour was stunning for photos. Our driver was calm in insane traffic and our guide clearly loves his city. Excellent value.

What sold me was the flexibility of choosing our own pickup time. We opted for 9am and did the full circuit at a gentle pace with my parents, who are in their seventies. The guide made sure the car dropped us close to each entrance so there was minimal walking for them. Jama Masjid was breathtaking. Thoughtful, professional and genuinely warm from start to finish.

Great overview of the city with a friendly, well-informed guide. My only note is that on the full-day itinerary a couple of the New Delhi stops felt a little rushed near the end as everyone was tiring in the afternoon heat. Still, seeing seven landmarks in one private day is remarkable value. The rickshaw ride through the spice market is something I'll remember for a long time.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is a fully private tour — the air-conditioned vehicle, driver and approved guide are exclusively for your group. You set the pace, so you can linger at Humayun's Tomb or move quickly past the Lotus Temple as you prefer. It's ideal for families and couples who want a flexible, personal experience rather than a fixed group schedule.
Only the Full Day Tour with Transportation, Guide, and Entry Fees (€450) includes monument entrance tickets. The €410 Full Day with Transportation, Driver and Guide covers the car and guide but you pay entry fees yourself at each site, while the €123 Guide Only option has no car or driver at all. The lead-in €45 rate is the starting per-person price for the flexible half/full-day setup.
In Old Delhi you'll explore Jama Masjid (India's largest mosque), the buzzing Chandni Chowk market, and the Sikh Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. In New Delhi the route covers Humayun's Tomb, India Gate, the Lotus Temple and Qutub Minar. On the half-day option you'll cover a focused selection, while the full day lets you see the complete circuit at a relaxed pace.
Yes — you can select any pickup time between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM to suit your schedule. An earlier start is smart for the full-day itinerary so you have daylight for both Old and New Delhi, and mornings are also cooler for walking Chandni Chowk. Just share your preferred time and hotel or airport address when you book.
Absolutely. Hotel or airport pickup and drop-off is included, so this tour works beautifully on a long layover or arrival day. Many travelers use it to see the city before continuing onward — for instance pairing it with a same-day Taj Mahal trip by car or a longer Golden Triangle 3-day tour.
The Lotus Temple is closed on Mondays, and both Jama Masjid and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib require modest dress and removing shoes before entering. Bring a scarf to cover shoulders and head, and wear socks or be ready to walk barefoot on warm stone. Your guide will advise you on etiquette at each religious site so you're always comfortable and respectful.
The pace is moderate but there is real walking, especially through Chandni Chowk's narrow, uneven lanes and up the steps at Jama Masjid and Qutub Minar. The car drops you close to each site to minimize distance. It's manageable for most fitness levels, and because it's private, older travelers can rest in the vehicle between stops whenever they need to.
A cycle-rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk is included only if that option is selected — it's one of the best ways to weave through the market's crowded spice and jewelry lanes. Confirm at booking whether your chosen package includes it. If you'd prefer a deeper market experience, our Chandni Chowk shopping tour focuses entirely on that area.
Yes, it's family-friendly. Kids usually love the rickshaw ride and the colorful bustle of Chandni Chowk, while the open lawns at India Gate give them room to stretch. Since it's private with an air-conditioned car, you control timings around naps and meals. Do keep a close hand on little ones in the busy Old Delhi lanes.
Delhi is hot from April to June (often 40°C+) and cool from November to February, which is the most comfortable season for sightseeing. Wear light, breathable, modest clothing, comfortable closed shoes for uneven ground, sunglasses and a hat. Umbrellas and a water bottle are provided, but sunscreen is your own responsibility.
Meals are not included, which keeps you free to eat what you like. Your guide can point you to trusted vegetarian and street-food spots in Chandni Chowk — Delhi is one of the easiest cities in the world for vegetarians. If a dedicated food experience appeals to you, consider the Old Delhi heritage tour with street food.
Photography is welcome at most sites, and the symmetry of Humayun's Tomb and the towering Qutub Minar are among Delhi's most photogenic spots. Some interiors, particularly at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and inside certain monuments, restrict cameras, and a few charge a small camera fee. Your guide will let you know where photos are fine and help you find the best angles.
Yes — traveling with a licensed, approved local guide makes Chandni Chowk and Old Delhi far easier and safer to navigate. The main things to watch are pickpockets in dense crowds and persistent touts near the monuments; your guide handles the latter so you can relax. Keep valuables secure and follow your guide through the busiest lanes.
No advance purchase is needed. If you booked the €410 transportation-and-guide package, you simply pay entry fees at each monument (foreigner tickets typically range from a few hundred rupees per site). To skip the queues and payments entirely, choose the €450 option where all entry fees are pre-arranged by the operator.
Once you book, you'll receive confirmation with your guide and vehicle details for your chosen pickup time. Most private Delhi tours allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, but please check the exact terms on your booking confirmation. If you want to combine this with an onward trip like the full-day guided Delhi tour, just let us know and we'll coordinate timings.

The duration of the Delhi: Old and New Delhi Private Full or Half-Day Tour With Approved guide is typically 1 day. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the scheduled start time for a smooth check-in. Your guide will meet you at the designated meeting point and ensure the experience runs on schedule while remaining flexible to your pace.
For most experiences, we highly recommend an early morning start. This allows you to avoid the midday heat, bypass the largest crowds, and capture the best lighting for photography. Your guide can advise on the optimal timing based on the season and specific attractions included.
Yes, once your booking is completed via our secure payment gateway, you will receive an instant confirmation email with your tour details, meeting point address, guide's name, and direct contact information. You can also view and manage your booking through your AsiaByLocals account dashboard.
