One of the most visited buildings in the world, and most visitors walk through it in silence.
The Lotus Temple was completed in 1986 as a Bahá'í House of Worship: twenty-seven marble petals arranged in nine groups, with nine doors opening onto a central hall that seats around 2,500. It has been among the most visited buildings on earth by footfall, ahead of the Eiffel Tower in some counts.
What is unusual is inside. There are no idols, no altar, no sermons and no ritual of any kind. Anyone of any faith may enter and sit, and silence is observed. After a day in Delhi's noise, that is the point.
