Two hundred years of empire, explained properly.

The Red Fort is easy to walk around and hard to understand without someone telling you what you are looking at. This tour is built around the guiding rather than the ticket.

What you cover

Through the Lahori Gate, where Shah Jahan's original open approach was walled off by Aurangzeb — his father reportedly wrote that it was like a veil drawn across a beautiful face. The Chatta Chowk covered bazaar. The Diwan-i-Am, where the emperor sat in a marble alcove and heard petitions from anyone in the empire. The Diwan-i-Khas, which held the Peacock Throne until Nadir Shah carried it to Persia in 1739.

Then the marble river-side pavilions: the Rang Mahal with its lotus-shaped fountain, the Khas Mahal where the emperor slept, and the Hammam. Your guide also covers 1857 and what the British demolished afterwards, which is most of the reason the fort looks emptier than it should.
