This tour connects two things that usually sit apart: the monuments, and the women whose craft work fills the markets around them. Your guide is a female cultural guide, and the route is built to include workshops and collectives where women are doing the work rather than shops that sell what they made.

What the day covers

The monuments, with the history told properly: Old Delhi's Mughal core and the newer capital around it, depending on whether you take the half or full day.

A rickshaw ride through Old Delhi, which is the only sensible way through lanes Shah Jahan laid out in the 1640s and which have not widened since.

And the craft: block printing, embroidery, zardozi and textile work, seen where it is made. Delhi's craft economy runs substantially on women's labour and almost none of the retail chain shows you that.

Buying from the craft stops is entirely optional and there is no pressure. Say so at the start if you would rather only look.
