How to Structure Three Days in Phuket
Most people arrive in Phuket, book a beach lounger, and leave having seen a hotel and a nightclub. That's a waste of one of Southeast Asia's great island regions — because Phuket's real value isn't the island itself, it's that it's the launch pad to the Andaman Sea.
This itinerary is built on three principles:
1. Two sea days, one land day. The limestone islands are the reason to come. Two full boat days is the right dose — a third leaves most people salt-burnt and boat-weary.
2. Book sea days early in your trip. If weather cancels a departure (a real risk May–October), you still have days left to rebook. Never schedule your must-do island trip for your last morning.
3. Alternate intensity. Boat days start at 7 AM and end at 5 PM — they're long. The land day sits between or after them as recovery.
A note on where to base yourself: the island tours in this plan pick up from all the main west-coast beaches, so your hotel choice is about the *evenings*, not the logistics. See our Phuket beaches guide if you haven't booked yet — and the best time to visit if your dates are still flexible.
