Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Delhi

Your Golden Triangle journey begins with your arrival in New Delhi, India’s bustling capital city. Upon landing, you will be greeted by your tour representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, take some time to relax and unwind after your journey.

Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a half-day city tour of Delhi, a city where ancient monuments and modern architecture coexist. Begin with a drive past India Gate, a grand memorial honoring the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in World War I. Visit Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world and a stunning example of Indo-Islamic architecture. Continue to Humayun's Tomb, a beautifully landscaped Mughal tomb that inspired the design of the Taj Mahal. Drive past the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the serene Lotus Temple. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 2 – Delhi to Agra

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Agra via the modern Yamuna Expressway, which takes approximately three to four hours. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy lunch before starting your sightseeing tour.

Begin with a visit to the iconic Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This white marble masterpiece, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, is breathtaking, especially at sunset when the monument reflects warm golden hues. Next, explore Agra Fort, a massive red sandstone fortress that served as the residence of Mughal emperors and showcases grand halls, palaces, and courtyards. Optionally, visit Mehtab Bagh for a serene sunset view of the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River. Overnight stay in Agra.

Day 3 – Agra to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri

After breakfast, depart for Jaipur, famously known as the Pink City. En route, stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned capital built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century. Explore its historic structures, including the Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, and royal palaces. Continue your journey to Jaipur and check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4 – Jaipur Sightseeing

After breakfast, enjoy a full day exploring Jaipur. Start with Amber Fort, a majestic fort offering stunning views and optional elephant rides. Visit the iconic Hawa Mahal, known for its unique honeycomb windows. Explore City Palace Jaipur, a splendid blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, and finally, visit Jantar Mantar Jaipur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing historic astronomical instruments. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 5 – Jaipur to Ranthambore National Park (Tiger Safari)

After an early breakfast, drive to Ranthambore National Park, a famous wildlife sanctuary (approx. 3–4 hours). Check in to your jungle resort and prepare for an exciting afternoon tiger safari in open 4x4 vehicles. Explore dense forests and grasslands, spotting wild tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and diverse birdlife. Enjoy a sunset safari, perfect for photography and wildlife spotting. Overnight stay in Ranthambore.

Day 6 – Ranthambore Morning Safari & Return to Delhi

Start the day with an early morning safari, maximizing your chances of spotting tigers in their natural habitat. Return to your resort for breakfast and check-out. Begin your drive back to New Delhi (approx. 6–7 hours). Upon arrival, transfer to the airport or hotel, concluding your memorable Golden Triangle and tiger safari adventure.

This 6 day Golden Triangle tour with the tiger safari extension was the best decision we made for our India trip. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur were all fantastic but adding Ranthambore made it truly special. We did two jeep safaris and spotted three different tigers including a mother with cubs. The guides at every location were top notch and the hotels were really comfortable. Six days is the perfect pacing for this route.

Definitley the highlight of our 3 week India trip. The Golden Triangle circuit covered all the must see monuments, the Taj Mahal at sunrise, Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, India Gate, and then Ranthambore National Park added a completley different dimension. Our naturalist guide in Ranthambore was incredibly passionate about tiger conservation. The private car and driver made everything so comfortable between cities. Six days was just right, not too rushed.

Incredible 6 day experience covering the best of Rajasthan plus wildlife. The itinerary was perfectly planned with enough time at each destination. In Delhi we explored both Old and New Delhi thoroughly. Agra was all about the Taj obviously but we also loved Agra Fort. The two morning safaris in Ranthambore were thrilling, we saw a tiger on the second one and our driver knew exactly where to position the jeep. Jaipur was the perfect finale with shopping in the bazaars.

Very well organised 6 day tour. The Golden Triangle portion was excellent with knowledgable guides at every major site. The Ranthambore tiger safari was exciting though we were unlucky and did not spot a tiger, only spotted deer, monkeys and beautiful birds. The hotels ranged from good to very good. Driving between cities took longer than expected but the driver was safe and the car was comfortable with good AC. Would have appreciated slightly better lunch options on driving days.

This tour exceeded every expectation. Six days covering Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore and Jaipur with a private guide and driver felt incredibly luxurious. The tiger safari was absolutley unreal, we saw a massive male tiger crossing the road just 20 meters from our jeep. Our guide also arranged a visit to Ranthambore Fort which had amazing views. Coming back to Jaipur for the final two nights with visits to Amber Fort and the City Palace was the perfect ending.

Frequently Asked Questions

Day 1 — Delhi: Arrive and transfer to your hotel; evening orientation walk or leisure time. Day 2 — Delhi sightseeing: Old Delhi (Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Chandni Chowk rickshaw ride) and New Delhi (India Gate, Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar) with a licensed guide. Day 3 — Delhi to Agra (200 km, ~3.5 hrs): Taj Mahal visit, Agra Fort, optional Mehtab Bagh at sunset. Day 4 — Agra to Ranthambore (280 km, ~5 hrs): Drive via Fatehpur Sikri stop; evening at leisure near the national park. Day 5 — Ranthambore tiger safari: Morning and afternoon jeep safaris inside Ranthambore National Park with a park naturalist. Day 6 — Ranthambore to Jaipur (180 km, ~3 hrs): Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal; drop-off in Jaipur or return drive to Delhi. For a condensed version, consider the 4-day Golden Triangle & Ranthambore tour.
Yes — 5 nights of hotel accommodation are included: 1 night in Delhi, 1 night in Agra, 2 nights near Ranthambore National Park, and 1 night in Jaipur. The standard package uses comfortable 3-star hotels with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and hot water. Upgrades to 4-star heritage properties or 5-star luxury hotels (such as Oberoi Amarvilas in Agra or Taj Rambagh Palace in Jaipur) are available at supplemental pricing. In Ranthambore, accommodation is typically a wildlife lodge or resort situated within 5–10 km of the park gate, adding to the jungle atmosphere.
The tour includes two jeep safaris (morning and afternoon) inside Ranthambore National Park on Day 5. Morning safaris run from 6:00–9:30 AM and afternoon safaris from 2:30–6:00 PM (timings vary seasonally). The vehicle is an open-top Gypsy jeep seating 6 passengers, accompanied by a government-certified park naturalist who tracks tiger movements and knows individual tigers by name. Ranthambore has a tiger sighting probability of approximately 60–75% per safari day — among the highest in India. All park entry fees and safari charges (approximately ₹1,500–₹2,500 per person per safari for foreign nationals) are included in the tour price.
Daily breakfasts at all hotels are included in the standard package. Lunches and dinners can be added at the time of booking for an additional cost of approximately ₹500–₹800 per meal at quality restaurants. During the Ranthambore segment, a packed breakfast is provided before the early morning safari, and a full lunch is arranged at the jungle lodge between safaris. The tour guide recommends excellent local restaurants at each stop — from Mughlai cuisine in Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk to Rajasthani thali in Jaipur. Vegetarian, vegan, Jain, halal, and allergen-aware options are available at all meal stops.
A private air-conditioned vehicle is provided for the entire 6-day circuit — typically a Toyota Innova Crysta (6-seat SUV) for groups up to 5, or a sedan (Swift Dzire or Honda Amaze) for couples and solo travellers. For groups of 7 or more, a tempo traveller (12–15 seats) is arranged. The same driver accompanies you throughout all 6 days, ensuring continuity and familiarity with your preferences. The vehicle is equipped with USB charging ports and bottled water. Inside Ranthambore National Park, a separate open-top Gypsy jeep is used for safaris, as private vehicles are not permitted inside the park.
This is a fully private tour — your group travels alone with a dedicated driver and guide, with no other tourists sharing your vehicle or itinerary. The private format allows complete flexibility: you can spend extra time at sites you enjoy, skip locations that don't interest you, and adjust start times to suit your pace. Licensed guides are provided in each city — a Delhi-Agra specialist for Days 2–3, a park naturalist for Ranthambore safaris on Day 5, and a Jaipur specialist on Day 6. This is not a fixed-departure group tour; your trip runs on your chosen dates.
The tour covers four destinations in a logical loop: Delhi (India's capital — Mughal and British-era monuments), Agra (home of the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort), Ranthambore (India's most famous tiger reserve in Rajasthan), and Jaipur (the 'Pink City' — Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal). The total driving distance across all 6 days is approximately 900–950 km. The route forms a rough diamond shape across northern India, and each driving segment is 3–5 hours, keeping travel manageable. For Delhi-only sightseeing in more depth, see our Delhi full-day guided tour.
October to March is the ideal season, combining comfortable weather for monument sightseeing (18–28°C) with Ranthambore National Park being open for safaris. March to May offers the highest tiger sighting probability (vegetation thins, tigers gather at water sources) but temperatures reach 40–46°C. The park is closed from July to September during monsoon season, making the tour unavailable in those months. For the best balance of comfortable weather and good tiger sighting odds, November to February is optimal. January mornings can be foggy in Delhi and Agra, adding atmosphere to sunrise visits at the Taj Mahal.
The tour requires only a moderate fitness level — no strenuous hiking or climbing is involved. The most physically demanding activity is walking through monument complexes: the Taj Mahal gardens involve approximately 1.5 km of flat walking, Amber Fort has ramps and steps (elephant rides or jeep rides to the top are available for ₹500–₹1,100), and Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk is a walking exploration of 1–2 km. The tiger safaris are entirely vehicle-based — you remain seated in the Gypsy jeep throughout. Air-conditioned vehicle transfers between cities require sitting for 3–5 hours per leg. The tour is suitable for ages 5 to 75+ and for travellers with moderate mobility.
Free cancellation is available up to 7 days before departure for a full refund. Cancellations 3–6 days before departure receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 48 hours of departure are non-refundable due to pre-booked hotel rooms, safari permits, and vehicle arrangements. Ranthambore safari permits in particular must be booked well in advance through the government portal and are non-transferable once issued. Date changes (rescheduling) are free if requested 5+ days before departure, subject to availability. Travel insurance covering trip cancellation is strongly recommended, especially during peak season (October–February).
Yes — all monument entry tickets are included: Red Fort (₹35 Indian / ₹500 foreign), Humayun's Tomb (₹35/₹550), Qutub Minar (₹35/₹550), Taj Mahal (₹50/₹1,100 + ₹200 mausoleum fee), Agra Fort (₹35/₹550), Fatehpur Sikri (₹35/₹550), Ranthambore National Park safari permits (₹1,500–₹2,500 per safari), Amber Fort (₹100/₹500), City Palace Jaipur (₹200/₹500), and Jantar Mantar (₹50/₹200). Camera fees where applicable are also included. The total ticket value for foreign nationals across all sites is approximately ₹7,000–₹9,000 — all pre-purchased so you skip ticket queues at every location.
Daily walking varies by location: Delhi (Day 2): approximately 4–5 km total across Old Delhi bazaar walks and New Delhi monument visits. Agra (Day 3): approximately 3–4 km covering the Taj Mahal complex and Agra Fort. Travel days (Days 1, 4): minimal walking, primarily vehicle transfers. Ranthambore (Day 5): virtually no walking — safaris are entirely vehicle-based inside the park. Jaipur (Day 6): approximately 3–4 km across Amber Fort, City Palace, and Hawa Mahal. All walking is on flat or gently graded surfaces, with rest stops and air-conditioned vehicle breaks between sites. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Yes, Delhi is generally safe for tourists, especially in popular tourist areas like Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, and around major monuments. Booking a licensed local guide through AsiaByLocals adds an extra layer of safety and local knowledge.
The Delhi Metro is the fastest and most affordable way to travel between attractions. For tour experiences, our guides arrange private air-conditioned vehicles so you can cover Old Delhi and New Delhi comfortably in one day.
For popular sites like Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, and Red Fort, advance tickets are recommended to skip long queues. When you book a guided tour through AsiaByLocals, entry tickets and skip-the-line access are typically included.
