Full description

Get ready for a full-day deep dive into Delhi’s beautiful chaos, where ancient stories, royal monuments, and modern landmarks all compete for your attention—and somehow blend perfectly together.

This private guided tour takes you through two very different personalities of India’s capital: the old-world charm of Old Delhi and the wide, structured elegance of New Delhi. One moment you’re navigating buzzing lanes filled with spice aromas and street chatter, and the next you’re cruising past grand colonial boulevards and monumental architecture.

Start your journey with the iconic Qutub Minar, a towering masterpiece that has been watching over Delhi for centuries. Then move to the elegant Humayun’s Tomb, a serene UNESCO site that feels like a quiet pause in the middle of the city’s fast rhythm. Continue to the powerful India Gate, where history meets national pride in a wide, open setting perfect for photos and reflection. Then comes the real adventure—Old Delhi. Step into the heart of chaos and character at Jama Masjid, one of India’s largest and most striking mosques. From there, switch gears completely as you hop onto a fun rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, where narrow lanes burst with colors, sounds, and endless energy. It’s loud, it’s lively, and it’s absolutely unforgettable.

Next, follow your senses into the legendary spice markets, where the air itself feels alive with turmeric, cardamom, chili, and stories passed down through generations. Every corner has a scent, every turn has a surprise.

Throughout the day, your private guide brings Delhi to life with stories, history, and local insights that turn monuments into memories and streets into living narratives.

To make everything effortless, enjoy comfortable hotel or airport pick-up and drop-off, so you can focus entirely on soaking in the experience without worrying about logistics.

This isn’t just sightseeing—it’s Delhi in full volume: chaotic, majestic, spicy, historic, and endlessly fascinating.

Detailed Itinerary

Early Morning Pickup and Scenic Drive

Your day begins bright and early with a 7:30am pickup from your hotel or a convenient location in the main city area. You’ll travel in a comfortable private vehicle, heading out on the Yamuna Expressway. As you leave the bustling heart of Delhi, you’ll enjoy the peaceful countryside views unfolding along the route. This 3.5-hour drive offers a rare chance to see the contrasting landscapes outside the urban sprawl, setting the tone for a day filled with cultural discovery and historical marvels.

Discovering the Majestic Qutub Minar

Your first major stop is the awe-inspiring Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Delhi’s most iconic landmarks. Standing tall at 73 meters (240 feet), it is the tallest brick minaret in the world and a breathtaking example of early Indo-Islamic architecture. Built in the 12th century by Qutb-ud-din Aibak and completed by successive rulers, this towering masterpiece is crafted from red sandstone and marble, adorned with intricate carvings and Arabic inscriptions that tell stories of Delhi’s medieval past.

As you explore the Qutub complex, you’ll wander among ancient ruins that whisper tales of empires long gone, surrounded by lush gardens that provide a serene atmosphere. Your guide will share fascinating historical insights, enriching your understanding of this architectural gem and its significance in Delhi’s heritage.

Serenity and Symbolism at the Lotus Temple

Next, you’ll visit the Lotus Temple, an architectural marvel known for its striking design inspired by the lotus flower, symbolizing purity and peace. Completed in 1986, this Bahá’í House of Worship welcomes people of all faiths, offering a quiet sanctuary for meditation and reflection. The temple’s 27 marble-clad petals are arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides, creating a visually stunning structure surrounded by tranquil gardens and reflective pools.

Unlike traditional temples, the Lotus Temple has no idols or sermons inside, allowing you to immerse yourself in a calm, contemplative space. This unique spiritual site is one of Delhi’s most photographed landmarks and attracts millions of visitors annually. Your guide will help you appreciate the temple’s symbolism and the Bahá’í faith’s message of unity and harmony.

Lunch and Leisure in Local Flavors

After a morning of exploration, you’ll stop for lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant that offers an authentic cultural culinary experience. Here, you can savor traditional Delhi dishes bursting with flavor, from fragrant spices to rich textures. This is your chance to relax, recharge, and enjoy the vibrant tastes that reflect the city’s diverse heritage. Lunch is at your own expense, so feel free to try specialties recommended by your guide to get a true taste of Delhi.

Immersive Old Delhi Highlights and Return

Post-lunch, your private tour continues with a lively rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi’s bustling market. You’ll weave through narrow lanes vibrant with colorful stalls, aromas, and sounds, immersing yourself in the everyday life of locals. You will visit Jama Masjid, Asia’s largest mosque, an architectural masterpiece with grand courtyards and towering minarets. Nearby, the sprawling spice market awaits, where piles of vividly colored spices provide a feast for the senses.

Additional stops like Humayun’s Tomb and India Gate can be arranged on request, allowing you to tailor the tour further. Finally, you’ll enjoy a comfortable drive back to your hotel, reflecting on a day full of stories, sights, and tastes that reveal the soul of both old and new Delhi.

We were collected from our hotel bang on time and the day just flowed from there. Humayun's Tomb was the surprise standout for me — quieter than I expected and stunning. Our guide knew exactly when to push on and when to let us wander. Having all the entry tickets already sorted meant zero queuing. Brilliant value for a private day at this price.

The rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk was the highlight of our whole India trip. Weaving through those spice-market lanes with our guide pointing out shops was unforgettable. The air-conditioned car was a lifesaver between stops and the driver was calm in mad traffic. Qutub Minar at the end was gorgeous. Cannot recommend this enough for a first day in Delhi.

Booked this as a private tour for my parents and me and it suited all three generations. My mother appreciated that the guide slowed the pace at Jama Masjid, and the cold water bottles kept appearing just when we needed them. We covered so much in eight hours yet never felt rushed. Airport drop-off at the end was seamless.

A genuinely great day and superb guide who clearly loves Delhi. My only honest note is the September heat made the midday stretch tough, and India Gate felt a touch rushed as we were all flagging by then. Start as early as you can. That aside, the monuments, the tickets included, and the door-to-door pickup made it painless and well worth it.

Faultless organisation. Everything promised was delivered — private car, guide at every single site, all fees paid. We especially loved how our guide contrasted the tidy colonial boulevards of New Delhi with the beautiful chaos of the old town. January weather was perfect for walking the Qutub complex. Fair price for a fully private experience with this much included.

Used this on a long layover and it was the perfect way to fill the day. Picked up straight from the airport, saw the icons, and dropped back with time to spare. Our guide happily reshuffled the order so we hit the quieter monuments first. Humayun's Tomb and the Chandni Chowk lanes were the standouts. Smooth, personal and great value.

Loved it overall — the guide was knowledgeable and the rickshaw ride was a real thrill. Be prepared though: Chandni Chowk is intensely crowded and a couple of vendors were persistent, so keep your bag close. Our guide handled it well and kept us moving. The included tickets and comfy car made a long day easy. Just go in with an open mind about the crowds.

Exactly the private, flexible day we hoped for. We asked to spend extra time photographing Humayun's Tomb and the guide simply adjusted — no fuss. All entrance fees were handled, water provided, and the driver navigated Delhi like a pro. Eight hours flew by. Seeing both the Mughal old city and the grand New Delhi in one day gave us a real feel for the capital.

Frequently Asked Questions

You get a genuine full-day, 8-hour sweep across both halves of the capital. On the New Delhi side you'll see Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, and India Gate, and in Old Delhi you'll visit Jama Masjid and ride a cycle rickshaw through the narrow lanes and spice markets of Chandni Chowk. Because it's fully private, your guide can adjust the pace and lingering time at each stop to suit you.
The tour is $211 for the private group (not per person), which makes it excellent value for couples, families, or small groups. That price already includes your private air-conditioned car with driver, a live guide at every site, all monument entrance fees, the Chandni Chowk rickshaw ride, bottled water, driver allowances, and all tolls, parking and taxes. There are no hidden entry costs to worry about on the day.
All monument entrance fees are included in the $211 price, so you won't need to queue up and pay separately at Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, or Jama Masjid. The only small out-of-pocket extras you might choose are a camera fee at some monuments, tips, or anything you buy in the markets. Everything essential to the itinerary is covered upfront.
Yes, door-to-door hotel or airport pick-up and drop-off is included. This makes the tour a popular choice for travelers on a long layover or their first day in India who want to see the highlights before checking in. Just share your hotel address or flight details when you book and your driver will be waiting.
This is a 100% private tour — the car, driver, and guide are exclusively for your party. You won't be pooled with strangers or held to a group timetable, so if you want longer at Humayun's Tomb and a quick stop at India Gate, that's entirely your call. It's ideal for anyone who values flexibility and a personal pace.
Expect a fair amount of walking on uneven ground, especially around the Qutub Minar complex and Humayun's Tomb gardens, plus stairs at Jama Masjid where you climb to the courtyard. The private A/C car ferries you between sites so you're never walking long distances, and the Chandni Chowk portion is done by rickshaw. Let your guide know if anyone needs a gentler pace and they'll happily adjust.
It works well for families — the rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk is usually a big hit with children, and the wide lawns at India Gate give little ones room to stretch. Since it's private, you can build in snack breaks and skip anything that isn't holding their interest. Bottled water is provided, and the air-conditioned car is a welcome cool-down between stops. For a more relaxed pace, the half-day Old and New Delhi option can also suit younger families.
Dress modestly for Jama Masjid — shoulders and knees covered for everyone, and women should carry a scarf to cover the head; shoes come off at the entrance, so slip-on footwear is handy. Otherwise wear comfortable walking shoes and light, breathable clothing. A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are smart given how much of the day is spent outdoors.
The most comfortable window is October to March, when Delhi's weather is pleasant and clear for exploring monuments on foot. April to June gets very hot, often above 40°C, so an early start and the included A/C car and water bottles make a real difference. July to September brings the monsoon, which cools things slightly but can mean occasional downpours — the private car keeps you flexible in any season.
Start time is flexible on a private tour — most guests begin around 8:30 or 9:00 am to make the most of the full 8 hours and beat the midday heat. Your guide will typically sequence the day to balance the New Delhi monuments and the busy Old Delhi lanes efficiently. Tell your guide your priorities and they'll structure the route around them.
Absolutely — Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar are two of Delhi's most photogenic sites, and the Chandni Chowk rickshaw ride is superb for candid street shots. Photography is generally permitted; a few monuments charge a small extra fee for video cameras, which isn't included. India Gate at the end of the day is lovely in the softer afternoon light.
Lunch is not included, which keeps the tour flexible — your guide can recommend spots to match your budget and taste, and Old Delhi is legendary for its street food around Chandni Chowk. Vegetarian food is everywhere in Delhi and easy to find, so vegetarians and those avoiding certain meats are very well catered for. If food is your main interest, consider the dedicated Old Delhi heritage food tour with street eats.
This tour packs the big-hitting monuments plus the Chandni Chowk rickshaw ride into one full private day with airport-friendly transfers. If you'd prefer a luxury-car experience with an official guide, look at Old and New Delhi by luxury car, and if you have less time there's a flexible full or half-day private Delhi option. This 8-hour version is the sweet spot for seeing the most in a single day.
Delhi is generally safe for visitors, and having a private guide and driver with you all day is one of the best ways to sidestep touts, pushy vendors, and the confusion of the markets. Your guide steers you through Chandni Chowk's crowds and keeps an eye on belongings. As anywhere busy, keep valuables secure and follow your guide's lead in the tightest lanes.
Booking is quick — reserve online and you'll receive confirmation with your pickup arrangements. Simply provide your hotel address or flight and arrival details so the driver knows where to collect you. For the exact free-cancellation window and any deadline, check the terms shown at checkout for this tour, as policies are stated clearly before you pay.
Delhi pairs perfectly with Agra and Jaipur, and many guests do this city tour first before heading out. You could follow it with a same-day Taj Mahal trip from Delhi by car or go bigger with a 3-day Golden Triangle tour taking in Agra and Jaipur. Just let us know and we can help line up your onward days.
