Dos cosas distinguen esto de la excursión estándar a Agra. El viaje se hace en tren exprés, lo que reduce el trayecto a la mitad y saca por completo el tráfico de Delhi de la ecuación. Y la tarde va a un centro de conservación de elefantes en vez de a una sala de exposición de mármol.
Los elefantes
El centro rehabilita animales rescatados del negocio de los paseos, de circos y de la mendicidad callejera. Muchos llegaron con las patas dañadas o con lesiones de columna tras décadas cargando personas. Aquí nadie los monta. Los ves caminar, comer y bañarse, y los cuidadores explican de dónde viene cada uno.
Cómo va el día
Recogida en Delhi para el tren de la mañana desde la estación de Nueva Delhi. Billetes confirmados en los dos sentidos, Nueva Delhi a Agra y Agra a Nueva Delhi. Un coche y un guía esperan el tren en Agra.
El Taj Mahal por la mañana con guía, después el viaje al centro de conservación, y el tren de vuelta. Unas doce horas.

El Taj cierra los viernes. El santuario abre, así que una versión de viernes sigue funcionando con el Fuerte de Agra en lugar del Taj.
