The standard Delhi day trip fills its afternoon with a marble showroom. This one goes to an elephant sanctuary instead, where animals rescued from the riding trade, from circuses and from street begging live out their recovery. Many arrived with foot damage or spinal injuries from decades of carrying people.
Nobody rides them. You watch them walk, feed and bathe, and the keepers explain where each one came from.
How the day runs
Hotel or airport pickup in Delhi in a private air-conditioned car, then the Yamuna Expressway down to Agra. Morning at the Taj Mahal with a government-approved guide. Afternoon at the sanctuary. Then the drive back. About twelve hours.

The Taj is closed on Fridays. The sanctuary is open, so a Friday version still works with Agra Fort in place of the Taj.
Visitors are asked not to touch or feed the elephants outside supervised sessions. It is a rescue facility with veterinary protocols, not a place built around contact.
Foreign-national Taj entry is ₹1,100 plus ₹200 for the mausoleum platform.
