Two days, two different Taj Mahals, and no six-hour drive.
The same-day Agra trip spends six hours in transit for perhaps five hours of sightseeing. This does it differently: the Gatimaan Express covers each leg in about 100 minutes, and an overnight stay means you see the Taj in evening light and again at sunrise, which are genuinely different experiences of the same building.
Day one
Pickup in Delhi for the morning Gatimaan. A private air-conditioned car and your guide meet you at Agra Cantt. Agra Fort in the afternoon, then the Taj Mahal in the late light when the marble goes warm. Check in for the night.
Day two
Back at the Taj for sunrise, when the complex is at its emptiest and the stone runs grey to pink to white. After breakfast there is time for Fatehpur Sikri or Itimad-ud-Daulah depending on your option, then the return train to Delhi.

Worth knowing
The Taj is closed on Fridays, and this itinerary visits it twice, so check your dates carefully. The Gatimaan also does not run on Fridays.
A second Taj visit needs a second ticket: ₹1,100 plus ₹200 each time for foreign nationals.
Sunrise entry means leaving the hotel around 5:30. It is the best part of the trip.
Winter fog can obscure the sunrise view. The day-one evening visit is your insurance against that.
Train seats are tied to your dates and booked ahead, so confirm them before arranging anything else.
