Eleven hours from Delhi covers more than the Taj. This runs the main Agra circuit with a private car and a government-approved guide, and includes a meal so the middle of the day is not spent looking for somewhere to eat.
What you see
The Taj Mahal, with time for the Great Gate approach, the charbagh gardens, the marble platform and the mausoleum interior. Your guide covers the pietra dura inlay, where the stones came from, and the calligraphy scaled to read evenly from the ground.
Agra Fort, the red sandstone fortress with marble palaces inside it, including the Musamman Burj where Shah Jahan spent his last eight years imprisoned by his son with a clear view of the Taj across the river.
Depending on time, a marble inlay workshop where pietra dura is still cut and set by hand, which is more interesting than it sounds once you have seen it on the monument itself.
