From Agra: Jaipur Day Tour by Car With Drop off Agra/Delhi

A day trip that doubles as a transfer

The useful part of this tour is the drop-off. Most travellers doing the Golden Triangle have to pay for Agra to Jaipur and then Jaipur to Delhi separately. This runs the Jaipur sightseeing in between and puts you down in whichever city you are sleeping in.

Pickup from Agra as early as 5am, which is what makes fifteen hours cover both the road and the sights.

The drive

Agra to Jaipur is about 240 km, four to five hours on decent road through Bharatpur. Fatehpur Sikri sits on the route if you have not already seen it and the timing allows.

In Jaipur

Amber Fort first, the hilltop complex above Maota Lake begun in 1592 — the Ganesh Pol gateway, the Sheesh Mahal with its ceiling of mirror fragments, and the courtyards climbing the ridge.

City Palace, still partly the royal residence, and Jantar Mantar next door, where the 27-metre stone sundial keeps time to within a couple of seconds.

If the day holds up, the bazaars — Johari for gemstones, Tripolia for lac bangles.

Then the drop

Back to Agra, or on to Delhi (another 270 km, so a later arrival). Say which when you book, because it changes how the day is paced.

Four options

AC car and guide with an Agra drop; the same with a Delhi drop; or all-inclusive versions of either with entrance fees and meals.

Practical

Fifteen hours door to door on the Delhi-drop version. That is a real day, and it is worth it only if it saves you a separate transfer.

Entrance fees run about ₹1,500 a head for a foreign adult unless your option covers them.
