Full description
Early out, and the drive is four to five hours
Pickup from your hotel or airport in Delhi, Noida or Gurgaon, then the NH-48 south with a midway break. The early start is not decoration: leave at six and the road is empty, leave at eight and Gurugram takes an hour of it.
Amber Fort
Your guide meets you here. Begun in 1592 by Raja Man Singh, Akbar's general — which is why a Rajput fort carries Mughal inlay and Persian garden planning.
The courtyards climb the ridge above Maota Lake. The Ganesh Pol gateway is painted plaster over stone, with a screened gallery above it from which the women of the court watched arrivals unseen. The Sheesh Mahal behind it is set with thousands of convex mirror fragments, so that one candle read as a ceiling full of stars.
The Sukh Niwas across the courtyard was cooled by water running through channels cut in the marble — four hundred years before there was any other way to do it.
Jal Mahal
A photo stop on the causeway. Four of five storeys underwater; no boat, no entry.
City Palace
Mughal and Rajput architecture across a sequence of courtyards, part of it still the residence of the former royal family — the flag over Chandra Mahal tells you whether they are in.
Jantar Mantar
Nineteen masonry instruments, UNESCO-listed, built by a ruler who was an astronomer first. The 27-metre Samrat Yantra still keeps time to within a couple of seconds, and your guide can show you how to read it.
Hawa Mahal
The five-storey screen of 953 windows, best photographed from the street opposite.

Wonderful tour of Jaipur! We saw all of the key highlights and got such wonderful details on the monuments and our guide went above and beyond to take amazing photos/videos for us. We felt very safe and well cared for. Everything ran seamlessly!
The driver Rahul was great! Did a fantastic job. The guide was so-so; took me to cool places but could have given more explanation. The lunch was at a Restaurant called Heritage Cuisine which was bad - hair on the food so didn’t eat. They also take you to a jewelry shop for emeralds and rubis but quality is bad and cost is high. Net driver was awesome and did a good job in a long drive; the actual experience itself has opportunities.

Driver Amar Singh was professional and excellent. Guide Ram was kind and knowledgeable. Because of parking concerns and the inability to conduct an inside visit, Hawa Mahal can be omitted from the schedule of events. The experience isn't enhanced by simply spending a few minutes outside taking pictures. Felt less energized for the next activity at the beginning of the vacation with such a start.
